Reason 8,949 why immigrants are net benefit
I don’t trust that those analyses are accurate, politically speaking. To match what people feel, you’ve got to include the medical costs of the citizen children of unauthorized immigrants. From a philosophical and legal point of view, children born here are citizens, of course, but from a political point of view, most people think of children as extensions of their parents and they think of social services delivered to children as benefits delivered to their parents. (Even if a rational businessperson would consider the social service to be a profitable investment in a future worker.)
