I’ve read that reaction time is strongly correlated with IQ. Conveniently, reaction time has been measured since the 1800s and it seems that it has been steadily declining in Western countries. OTOH, the IQ increased strongly until recently.
But it’s not at all clear what significance, if any, that has. Most people don’t max out in life based on their IQ. And the authors of “The Bell Curve”, who spent a considerable chunk of their lives studying the subject, complain “We agree emphatically with Howard Gardner, however, that the concept of intelligence has taken on a much higher place in the pantheon of human virtues than it deserves.” But we fight major social battles based on the observed difference of IQ scores between social groups.
