Religion is a curious thing … As far as I know, every society has its believers and fundamentalists. Also, every society has its doubters, unbelievers, scoffers, mockers, and blasphemers. It looks to me like a balanced polymorphism, where a society that lacks, or has too many of, one of these types is less effective than it could be.
