    From various sources, in the 1950s and 1960s Mexico was also providing abortions to Americans to the point that one source said that a “Mexican vacation” was college slang for an abortion. I once tried to track down whether abortion was actually legal in Mexico at the time, or just profitable enough to be tolerated, but had no luck at that. In any case, the fact that abortion was decriminalized in Mexico in the last couple of years may have been in view of the commercial possibilities.

    What’s different this time is the dramatically lower cost of long-distance travel.
